Q: It seems like my SpringLoad XL tightens up and seizes but it is still loose on the anchor points. Why would that appear to be happening?
A: If the SpringLoad XL tightens up to a section and seems like it is binding or getting difficult to turn, but is still loose, ensure that the threads are clear and clean from any debris. If your anchor points are approximately 35” or shorter, you may be bottoming out the threaded rod inside the SpringLoad XL. Shortening the threaded rod a few inches will give you more room and alleviate the issue.
Q: I think the spring in my S9050a has malfunctioned. I cannot feel the spring anymore and my swivel hook feels loose.
A: ¼” of compression (Indicated by the O-ring) is equivalent to 300 pounds of tension. That takes a lot of force to move it 1/4 inch. We have not seen a spring fail. It is common to think that it should not slide in and out and it is common to think that you should be able to feel the spring compress or pull when moving the swivel hook. This is normal operation of how the S9050a feels during operation. But if you are not sure, just give us a call.
